“Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.” James 1:17 NLT

“I’ve learned so many times that when I feel prompted to surrender something, it’s usually for my own good,” said Ellie. “It’s a positive way for me to lay down all my hopes and dreams of how my wish could be answered. It moves my wish into a realm where God can answer it in the ‘above and beyond all I can ask or imagine’ territory. It helps me get rid of all the things I think I need that stand in the way of what God has been dreaming for me all along.” _excerpt from Ocean Star by Christina Dimari

This Christmas, think about exchanging gifts with God.
THIS CHRISTMAS, THINK ABOUT EXCHANGING GIFTS WITH GOD

Let me give you some examples of things I have done in my own life. When I asked God, “What do you want from me?” One time I felt this whisper in my heart, “I want your will.” I was going through a time in my life when I was holding onto control and God was wooing me to let go and let him be in control. I thought about it for awhile and I knew what I could put in my box. I went downstairs to where my boys had a box full of play horses. I cut off the reigns of one of the white horses and that was what I put inside my box. I was like…here God…I let go…I surrender…you can have the reigns of my life.

A couple days later I received a note in the mail from a friend. The whole front of the card was a picture of a white horse with the rider holding on to the reigns, running playfully through crystal blue water. I was stunned. It was God’s way of telling me…I got it. Not only that, the rider was in the most beautiful water I had ever seen and he was full of excitement for this adventure he seemed to be embarking on. He had my reigns now and I had better hold on!

Then I was reading in my Bible and came across this verse: “I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True.” Rev. 19:11 NIV

God was beginning to teach me that he could be trusted with my heart and life because he is Faithful and True. I spend several months studying what it meant to be faithful and true. A simple act of surrender opened up a whole new way for me to get to know the heart of my God I was still learning how to trust.

So when it comes to your creative page, try to come up with a symbol to represent what you are offering to God. When you go home today or throughout the next few weeks, when you know what it is, include the note you wrote to God sharing your heart with what you are surrendering and why. Go ahead and put it inside and wrapped it up with your pink ribbon (or whatever color you want.)
